The sauna master’s path.
Theory at home, practice in the sauna. Learning starts on a screen and ends on the bench: with heat, a whisk and the person you care for.
Three stages.
Video lessons, magazine chapters and assignments in your own sauna. One live conversation a week with the teacher and the group.
A small group, a real sauna. Every step happens on you and in your hands, under the teacher’s eye. In Latvia or in Spain.
Next practice: Spain, 2–6 Nov 2026 →You lead a full ritual in pairs. Then reflection and a certificate of completion.
Six modules.
The modules build on the Sauna Academy magazine and the tradition of the Lielzemenes sauna school.
Steam and history
From the Livonians in 1198 to the dainas. Why Latvians “throw” the steam.
The body in the heat
What heat and cold do to the heart, the vessels and the nervous system. Safety and contraindications.
The five steps
The structure of the ritual: warming, scrub, rest, the great whisking, contrast and silence.
Whisks and plants
When to cut, how to bind and soak. Birch, oak, linden, juniper. Sauna teas.
Consciousness and the flight
Altered states, silence and the flight in the water. How to guide into depth and bring someone safely back.
The sauna master’s discipline
Consent, boundaries, ethics and your own body’s load. How to serve for a long time.
- Those who want to lead the sauna for others.
- Sauna masters who want structure and a scientific base.
- Anyone who wants to understand their own sauna more deeply.
- That you will be a master after the course. The sauna is a practice for life.
- That the sauna treats illness. It does not replace a doctor.
- A state-recognised qualification. You receive a certificate of completion.
Join the waiting list.
The first group will be small. The waiting list will be the first to receive prices, dates and practice locations.
Before you sign up.
Do I need experience?
No. The course starts from the basics. If you are already a sauna master, the structure and the scientific base will still be useful.
In which language?
Course materials will be in Latvian, English and Spanish.
How much does it cost?
We will announce the price to the waiting list before opening. The online part can also be taken on its own, without the practice.
Where does the practice take place?
In Latvia and in Spain. Exact places and dates are announced for each group.
Is the sauna safe?
Heat is a physical load. The application asks about your health, and the course teaches when to stop. If you have a heart condition, are pregnant or have another health concern, talk to a doctor first.
Is there anything to read already?
Yes. The course has the first three issues of Sauna Academy in four languages.
